"God Is With Us"

In a world filled with uncertainty, political turmoil, economic instability, and social unrest, we need a powerful reminder that we are not abandoned. This message centers on Matthew 1:22-23, where we encounter the profound name 'Emmanuel'—God with us. What makes this truth so compelling is that God didn't wait for perfect conditions to show up. Jesus entered the world during a time of heavy taxation, political oppression under Rome, housing crises, and threats of violence. Mary faced uncertainty, Joseph confronted embarrassment, and their future seemed unclear. Yet God showed up anyway. This teaches us something revolutionary: God loves entering our mess. He doesn't wait for us to get our act together, for our bank accounts to be full, or for our circumstances to look presentable. He walks into hospital rooms, sits at our kitchen tables when we're worried about bills, and stands with us when ICE agents patrol our neighborhoods. The message challenges us to stop pretending everything is okay when it's not. We don't have to perform strength we don't possess. Instead, we can declare honestly that today isn't a good day, that we're hurting, that we're lacking—and still trust that God is with us. The promise of 'perfect peace' for those whose minds are stayed on Him becomes our anchor when inflation strikes, when layoffs threaten, when violence shakes our communities. This isn't just a Christmas message—it's an everyday reality that sustains us through every messy, broken, hopeless situation we face.
